Edward “Eddie” D. Boggs

Edward “Eddie” D. Boggs of Havana, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at his home. He was born June 27, 1943 to Lester R. Boggs and Ruth Horner Tanner in Havana. Surviving are his mother, Ruth Tanner; two sons, Dean Downing of Jerseyville and Jason Boggs of Pekin; two daughters, Angela Boggs Longmire of Pekin and Rebecca Boggs Flynn (Darren) of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Jordon Ziegenbein Moore of Naylor, Missouri, Erica Ziegenbein of Pekin, Zachary Longmire of Pekin, Monica Ziegenbein of Holiday, Florida, Jacob Carpenter of Pekin, and Elizabeth Carpenter of Duluth, Minnesota and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Midge) Barton of Havana; and two brothers, Terry Boggs of Havana and John Boggs of Englewood, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Maurice Boggs; one brother, Jerry Boggs; and one grandson, Jonathan Longmire. Eddie was a member of the Havana Church of Christ and was baptized in 1957. He graduated high school in 1961 and then served in the Navy as a barber. Eddie worked as a bricklayer and then a masonry contractor for 40 years: 23 of those years in Dallas, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Havana Church of Christ, with a visitation one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Boyce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Memorial donations may be made in Eddie’s name to TAPS in Pekin. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
