Edna Juanita Jones

Edna Juanita Jones, 93, of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Edna was born on January 15, 1933, in Mason City, to her parents, Edward Herman Hindahl and Margaret Sophia Mary Hindahl (Harries). She married John Lindberg Jones on April 5, 1953, at Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City. They shared 66 wonderful years together. Edna is survived by her sons, Mark Edward Jones and David Hindahl Jones (Lisa Francis); grandson, Nathan Jones (Graciela); step-granddaughter, Haley Lyon (Phil) great-grandchildren, Rheuben Jones and Delilah Jones; sister, Melanie Gordon, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jones, parents, sister, Vera Hindahl, and beloved cat, Tootie. Edna worked as a secretary for McNeil Law Office and was a cafeteria worker at Illini Central School District before retiring. She was a member of the Mason City Historical Society, recycling board, Christ Lutheran Dorcas Society, and the Christ Lutheran Women’s Mission League. Edna enjoyed gardening, helping around the farm, and flowers. She was known for her open, compassionate heart and for making her home available when someone needed a place to stay. A funeral service for Edna will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, 1:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Sullivan to officiate. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Mason City Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Edna can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of great-nephew, Jacob Gordon. Hurley Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
