Margie L. Brooks
Margie L. Brooks, 69, of Smithfield passed away Sunday November 9, 2025 along with her grandson, Sawyer M. Brooks-Kirkpatrick at the home of her daughter at rural Cuba. She was born June 10, 1956 at Canton the daughter of Charles E. and Joan (Simpson) Smith Jr. She married Larry G. Brooks on December 10, 1978 at Cuba. He died March 4, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, David Del Brooks. Surviving are three children, Marcy J. (Mathew) Kirkpatrick of rural Cuba, Melissa L. (Aaron) Prosser, of Pekin, and Jared M. Brooks of Macomb, three grandchildren, Caileigh, Sven, and Eir, and two sisters, Martha A. Harr of Cuba, and Mary Jane (Carl) Chester also of Cuba. Margie was an extraordinary woman whose presence filled every room with warmth, laughter, and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother – the heart of her family and the steady light that guided them through life. Her world revolved around the people she loved most, and in return, her family adored her beyond measure. She lived each day with grace, generosity, and an unshakable devotion to those around her. She shared a beautiful life with her late husband, Larry, her greatest companion and love. Together, they built a home full of joy, stories, and the comforting smell of something delicious always simmering in the kitchen. Margie’s love of cooking was legendary. Cookbooks lined her shelves like treasured friends, each one worn with notes, bookmarks, and smudges of flour from recipes perfected over the years. She poured her heart into every dish she made – not just to feed her family, but to show them love in the purest form. Margie found joy in life’s simple, beautiful things. She had a deep affection for flowers and gardening, often found tending to her blooms with the same care and patience she showed to everyone in her life. She delighted in the creativity of crafts, especially when shared with her grandchildren, whose laughter and curiosity brought her endless happiness. The time she spent with them – painting, baking, planting, or just talking – was among her greatest joys. Mom, Grandma, Gramma, NoNo, Nano, Mag, or Merma… Whatever name you called her by, she was extraordinary. Her heart was vast, and her compassion reached every living thing. Margie had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats. Her beloved Jack, held a special place in her heart. The two shared a quiet understanding and deep bond that lasted until Jack’s passing in 2023. It brings comfort to imagine them reunited once again. Margie’s love was second to none – courageous, steadfast, and selfless. She gave without expecting in return, listened without judgment, and loved without limits. Her kindness touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of gentle strength and boundless affection. Though she will be deeply missed, Margie’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her – in her children’s laughter, her grandchildren’s curiosity, and the family traditions she so lovingly built. The flowers she tended will keep blooming, the recipes she perfected will continue to be shared, and her love will live on, woven into the very fabric of her family’s lives. Margie was, and always will be, a beautiful soul – joyful, nurturing, and endlessly loving. Her memory is a blessing, and her life a masterpiece of kindness, devotion, and grace. Margie was a receptionist at Graham Medical Group for over 45 years. She was a member of the Brock Untied Methodist Church at Smithfield. Margie enjoyed cook books, cooking, yard sales, auctions, and shopping of all kinds. Cremation will be accorded. A visitation was held on Tuesday November 18th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown for both Margie and Sawyer from 5-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass-Putman Rescue Squad.
