Darin Lee Lounsberry

Darin Lee Lounsberry, 59, of Havana, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at OSF Hospice House in Peoria. He was born on May 6, 1966 in Springfield to Richard and Shirley (Kleyensteuber) Lounsberry. Darin is survived by his sons; Alex (Brooke) Lounsberry of Macomb and Doug Lounsberry; parents, Richard and Shirley Lounsberry of Havana; sister, Whitney (Scott) Schlueter; grandsons, Leo and Connor, who were two of the most important parts of his life; and two nieces, Jennifer (Brad) Bryerton and Kacie Schlueter. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Darin served in the Marine Corps after high school, and was stationed in Okinawa and California. He earned his degree in electrical engineering design and started working in the Design Section of a company that is now Johnson Controls. He would have been with them for 30 years in November. Three of Darin’s favorite activities were golf, skiing, and watching “The Steelers” football games. He was a member of Macomb Country Club although Sunset Hills Best Ball Tournament was a much loved annual event. He first played in it with his Dad, and then his son, Alex for years. Skiing was an annual event that was family oriented. Both excellent skiers, Darin (or Poppa as his grandsons called him) and Alex were already working with Leo. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00. Scott Schlueter will officiate. BuriaI will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana with Steve Lounsberry offering the benediction. Memorial donations may be made in Darin’s name to Mason District Hospital for the MRI machine. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
