Richard P. Knuppel

Richard P. Knuppel of The Villages, Florida passed away on January 11 at 86 years old. Dick was born July 4, 1936 to Paul and Sarah Knuppel in Pekin. He married Mabel Simpson in Manito on August 4, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, a sister, Jane, and a brother, Lyle. Surviving are four children, Kenneth Knuppel, Angela Shatz, Steven Knuppel, Elizabeth Knuppel; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and three brothers, Bill, John, and Tom Knuppel. Dick graduated from Easton High School in 1954 and served active duty in the Air National Guard earning an honorable discharge in 1962. He went on to build successful businesses farming, trading in farm equipment and constructing grain bins. In his retirement he enjoyed following the financial markets and commodities trading. His pastimes included baseball and traveling. He particularly loved listening to country music and attending live music performances. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21 at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, in Manito. A graveside service will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.     On Wednesday Jan16, 2023, we lost. Dear friend of ours, Richard Knuppel Who loved to play trionomos, go on cruises, dancing, watch football, games, and listen to country music. Along with his loving companion, Jan Bruck, since moving to the villages and having a good time.
