Rodger Camerer
Rodger Camerer, age 65, of Bath and formerly of Scottville died Wednesday afternoon, January 4, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born June 23, 1957 in Carrollton son of Charles and Ruby “Trinky” Allen Camerer. Rodger was raised by Melody Woolfolk Camerer who his father married in 1964. He married Tammy Nation on August 13, 1982 in Jacksonville and she survives. Also surviving is his mother, Melody Camerer of Scottville; his children, Shannon Camerer (Joshua Wolken) of Mound Valley, KS, Dustin Camerer of Pittsfield , and Andrew Camerer (Amanda) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Kelton and Nicholas both of Mound Valley, KS, Tyler of Bath , and Sunni, Maylee, and Korbin all of Jacksonville; siblings, Jim Camerer (Marcella) of Waverly, Pamela Allen (Rick Hughes) of Jacksonville, Julie Elliott (Gary) of Scottville, Lisa Moore (Gary) of Modesto, and Joe Camerer (Becky) of Scottville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father and mother; and a brother, Chester Camerer. Rodger was a 1975 graduate of Northwestern High School in Palmyra. Following high school, he enlisted in the Illinois National Guard and served for six years in the Guard. He then worked alongside his father and his brother Joe in their father’s company West Central Energy for many years doing maintenance for municipal gas systems in Illinois, Missouri and Indiana. He was employed 30 years by Ameren and recently as a gas inspector. He loved golfing, traveling with Tammy, and spending time with his grandchildren. Rodger was well known as a family man and jack of all trades and could make, or repair anything. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 13, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Burial will be in Panther Creek Cemetery near Scottville where military rites will be conducted by Palmyra American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to K.A.R.E.
