Ruth Alberta Thomson Walker

Ruth Alberta Thomson Walker, 94, of Canton, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Monday, December 19 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on August 22, 1928 in Galva to Willard L. and Helen L. (Waters) Thomson. She married Jack Walker on January 31, 1954 at the Galva Congregational Church in Galva. He survives. Ruth is also survived by two children, Mitchell (Samantha) Walker of Gladbrook, IA, and Shelley (Dave) Henderson of Lenexa, KS; four grandchildren, Robert Walker, Liam Walker, Ashley (Aaron) Berkley and David Henderson; one great-grandchild, Lennon Grace; one brother, Willard P. Thomson; one sister, Margaret “Midge” Eaton; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Tom Thomson. Ruth worked and retired after 18 years as a school teacher in Lewistown and Canton. She was a past state president of Lamda Chi Omega. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. Ruth loved collecting antiques, traveling and going on snowmobile trips. She also enjoyed tennis and golfing. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. Memorial Service will be held the same day at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Rick Atchley will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton.
