Mardelle Osing
Mardelle Osing, 85, of Havana passed away at her home at 6:53 a.m. on Thursday, November 10. She was born on March 25, 1937 in Peoria to Ralph and Marietta (Hackman) Bruning. She married her high school sweetheart, Dale Osing, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana on August 21, 1960 and he survives. Also surviving are her two sons, Tony (Glee) Osing of Havana and Todd (Karen) Osing of Morton; three grandchildren, Tanner (Jen), Aaron, and Andrew Osing; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose Osing. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marisue Wilson. Mardelle graduated from Havana High School in 1955, where she enjoyed cheerleading and going to Latin contests. After graduating high school, she attended Western Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education. While at college, she joined the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and was a nominee for homecoming queen. Mardelle taught business classes at Balyki High School until it closed, and then worked for the Mason County Circuit Clerk until her retirement. Mardelle was a member of the Havana Church of Christ. She enjoyed shopping, music and singing, playing bridge with her club, and attending St. Louis Cardinal’s games. She especially enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine, tanning and taking care of her flowers. She loved seeing her three grandsons grow and particularly following their sports accomplishments. She was always their biggest fan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Havana Church of Christ, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bill Boyce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made in Mardelle’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Mason District Hospital. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
