Mary Caroline Roos

Mary Caroline Roos, 91, of Havana, passed away on Friday, April 15 at 7:54 p.m., at her home in Enion. Mary was born on February 5, 1931, in Havana, the daughter of Karl Frederick and Bernice (Arundale) Wolters. She married Melvin Roos on November 24, 1950, in Havana. Mary is survived by three sons: Michael of Havana, Mark (Janet) of Columbia, Martin (Kim) of Havana; and sister-in-law, Colleen Wolters of Topeka. She is preceded in death my her husband, Melvin; one son, Matthew; parents, Karl Frederick Wolters and Bernice Wolters; and one brother, Karl B. Wolters. Along with being a full-time wife and mother, Mary worked for many years as cashier at State Bank of Havana, and multiple years at Walmart, as a cashier in Beardstown. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Havana, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 21, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Rev. Mark Drewes will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Compassus Living Foundation. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
