Delores Weaver

Delores Weaver ascended to her heavenly home December 23 at Shore Point Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. Delores was born August 27, 1942 to Byrl and Lena Mae Clayberg of Cuba. On November 25, 1962 she wed Gene Weaver. They had 47 years of marriage and raised 3 children together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She is survived by her children Ron (Brenda) Weaver, Michelle (Chris) Whitley, Sara Weaver, grandchildren Emily, Taylor, Tanner, Casey, Tyler, great-granddaughter, Sophie brother James (Jane) Clayberg; and numerous other family and friends. Delores was preceded in death by her husband (Gene) of 47 years, brothers, Ron and Mark and parents, Byrl and Lena Mae. She graduated from Cuba High School in 1960. After graduation, Delores worked briefly as a reservationist for Ozark/TWA Airlines (Peoria). Delores was very active in her community. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star (Cuba), a graduate of Canton Beauty Academy, and a member of the United Methodist Church for many years. Delores (and Gene) lived in Illinois, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. The last 2 years Delores resided in Arcadia, FL Prior to that Delores lived in Punta Gorda, FL. Delores loved life. While parts of it wasn’t always easy, she always kept smiling. Delores loved music, dancing, traveling, cooking, a good cup of coffee with a slice of pie, being outside, a good game of pitch, and the beach. Delores will be remembered for many things. However, it was her love of friends and family that stood out above all others. She said “I love you” and showed it by cooking a favorite meal (usually that was chicken and noodles), baking a birthday cake/pie, giving a haircut, sending a card, making a cup of coffee, or calling just to check in. She always made everyone feel loved and important. Delores was one of a kind with a smile that could light up the room. We will carry her in our hearts and mind, until the day we are all reunited again. Memorial gifts may be made to the Fulton-Mason Crisis Service, 1330 E Ash Street, Canton, IL 61520. Delores will be honored with a private graveside service and a Celebration of Life scheduled at a later date.
