Marilyn Budke

Marilyn Budke, 83, of Havana, passed away at Memorial Medical Center, in Springfield, at 1:47 p.m., on Wednesday, January 5. She was born May 8, 1938, near Topeka to Orville and Edna Louise (Jurgens) Himmel. She married Douglas Budke and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2005. Mrs. Budke is survived by one son: Scott (Sheryl) Budke, of Chatham; one grandson: Nathan (Meagan) Budke, of Petersburg; great-grandson Elijah Budke of Petersburg; one brother: Nelson (Trena) Himmel of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law: Gloria Wilcoxen of Wisconsin and Marie Barton of Utah; as well as close special friend, Tanya Jennings of Havana; and and special niece, Sara Short. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Doug Budke, brother, Duane Himmel and sister Orvilline Beltz. Mrs. Budke graduated from Easton High School. She retired from Mason County FSA office in 2000. She delivered the Pekin Daily Times newspaper and worked for Red Cross for many years. She was very involved with the Havana Food Pantry. In 2017, she was recognized as Havana Citizen of the Year. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Monday, January 10,, also at the funeral home. Rev. Micah Garnett will officiate.
