Mary Margaret (Burgett) Fawcett

Mary Margaret (Burgett) Fawcett, 89, of Havana passed away at 1:19 a.m. on Sunday, December 5 at Graham Hospital in Canton surrounded by her family. She was born on February 22, 1932 in Havana to Chester and Margaret (Smith) Burgett. She married Robert Franklin Fawcett in Rushville on May 8, 1965. Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Franklin Fawcett of Havana, children: Penny Smith of Havana, Peggy (Dennis) Robertson of Ipava, Terry (Becky) Hackman, Sr. of Pekin, Carolyn (Marvin) Schoonover of Kilbourne, Todd (Beverly) Fawcett of Kirkwood, and Robert E. (Kendra) Fawcett of Havana. She also was a grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brothers: Dallas “Bud” (Rosemary) Burgett and Chester Burgett, Jr of Havana. Her lifetime friend, Eva Broshears also survives. She was preceeded in death by her parents, and children: Paul Hackman, Larry Hackman, and Janice Fawcett, son-in-law- Herbert Smith, and Daughter-in-law Janice Hackman, sister Rosalyn “Nean” Bridges, sister-in-law Bessie Burgett and Brother-in-law Dale (Stubb) Bridges. Mary was proud to be the matriarch for the 5 generations that have been blessed to call her Grandma. Mary was a member of the Assembly of God in Havana where her parents both ministered. She was well loved by her entire family and took great care of all of them. There is not one person in the family that has not had the famous (Mary Margaret Look). Besides being a caregiver to her children and grandchildren, in her early years she worked for the Turkey Hatchery, Atwoods, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Weddles IGA. She was also an avid bowler. She loved spending her time in her chair watching all the birds, butterflies and hummingbirds at her bird feeders. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to her family. Online condolences can be left for her family at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
