Marion Adelia Sisson Moss

Marion Adelia Sisson Moss, age 94, joined the Lord on Sunday, June 13 in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC. Marion was born December 7, 1926, in Kilbourne to Harvey Sisson and Nina Mae Roloff Sisson. She spent her early years on a big farm, with a large family in the idyllic small town of Kilbourne. She met Finas Robert Moss in high school, and they were married in 1947. They shared 59 wonderful years, devoted to each other and their children until his death in 2006. She is survived by four children: Jane Milne (John) of Richmond, VA, John Moss (Kathy), and Betty Silver (Bob) of Va. Beach, VA, and Ruth Bek of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC. The surviving grandchildren are Martha, Elizabeth and Jennifer Milne, John Robert, Thomas and Katherine Moss, Michael, Marion and Ruthann Payne, and Christopher and Kaitlyn Silver. There are 6 great grandchildren, Henry, Will, Cooper, Logan, Duncan, and Patrick, and two surviving brothers Marcus and Ted Sisson. Her son-in-law, Joel Bek, and one grandson, Joshua Silver, predeceased her as did 10 other siblings. Finas’s career in the Navy took the family to multiple homes until his final station and retirement in Virginia Beach, VA. There, Marion was a Wife, Mother, Band mother, Girl Scout leader, and Grandmother whose heart and table always had room for one more. She was the glue and spirit of the Moss family, and the source of joyous memories that live on with them. All of this while having a 30-year career in Civil Service as a budget analyst for the Navy, retiring with a Meritorious Civilian Service Award. In 2005 she moved to Seaboard, NC and finally to Boiling Spring Lakes, NC with her daughter, Ruth. Born in the Roaring 20’s, she was sparkling and sassy until the Zooming 2020’s. The Memorial Service for Marion will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 424 Kings Grant Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. The sanctuary will open at 12:30 p.m. Family will be available in the social hall following the service. Marion’s ashes will be interred with her husband at Princess Anne Memorial Cemetery, Virginia Beach, Virginia in a private ceremony.
