Kenneth Howard Wendt, 85, of Havana, passed away at St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield at 6:38 p.m., on Friday, June 18. He was born January 27, 1936, near Easton to Velma Whitehead. Mr. Wendt is survived by several cousins. Mr. Wendt was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. He served in the US Army from 1959-1961. He later worked at Zempel’s Hardware in Havana. He retired on December 31, 1995, from Illinois Power, in Havana, as a Store Keeper. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He was always willing to help any of his family members who needed assistance. Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Havana, on Wednesday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Brian Lesemann will officiate. VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138 will provide military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Havana Food Pantry.
