Robert C. Brown, 70, of Havana, passed away at OSF-St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria, at 9:20 a.m., on Tuesday, June 16. He was born February 20, 1950, in Peoria, to Robert J. and Barbara (Welker) Brown. He married Annette Eilks on July 1, 1972, at 1st Baptist Church in Havana. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Annette, of Havana; son, Chad (Summer) Brown of Havana; daughter, Aimee (Nate) Turner of Kilbourne; four grandchildren: Tyson and Andee Brown and Chloe and Jack Turner. Also surviving are his mother, Barbara Brown and sister, Linda (Mike) Hine, all of Havana. He was preceded in death by his father. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He was a Viet Nam War Veteran, serving in the US Army from 1969 until 1971. During his time in the Army, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was active in Havana Little League and coached many young people in baseball and softball. He helped in development of the 10th Street Ball Diamond in Havana. He was proud to coach both of his kids. He owned and operated Bob’s Deep Rock gas station in Havana. He later purchased B&B Motors in June 1980. He has been a Ford Dealer for forty years. One of his proudest stories was that he was the first person to eat the first pizza from Michele’s Pizza in Havana. Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 19. Rev. Jame Hahs will officiate.
