Carl Alvin Gordon
Carl Alvin Gordon, 74, of Mason City passed away on Tuesday, March 3 at 1:15 a.m. at his home. He was born on April 22, 1945 in Petersburg to Frank and Mary (Kelly) Gordon. He married Melanie Hindahl on June 30, 1967 in Mason City. Carl is survived by his wife, Melanie, 3 children: Chuck Gordon of Mason City, Denise (John) Dierking of Bloomington and Christine Sisk of Mason City, 3 Grandchildren: Mackenzie Sisk of Colorado, Hannah and Aubrey Dierking of Bloomington, Siblings Bridget Melton of Petersburg, Esther Crow of Quincy, Linda Jones of Mason City and Kathy (Larry) Gibson of Decatur. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was adopted as an Uncle and Grandpa by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters Helen Baker, Liz Bitner, Pat Tomlin and Kay Wright, 4 brothers Walt, Fred, Charlie and Bob and Grandson Jake Gordon. He worked in construction as a laborer and owned his own lawn maintenance and snow removal business. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, playing music, his Grandkids and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City, Rev. John Johnson will officiate burial will follow the services at Mason City cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, IL.
