Guy L. Stambaugh, Sr., son of Corbin and Nelle Stambaugh, born August 23, 1925, passed away on February 13, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Harry, Merlin, Edward, and Corbin, Jr. and sister, Fern Blair. Mr. Stambaugh married Jennie Stambaugh on November 19, 1960. She survives. Also surviving are seven children; Mike Stambaugh, Guy (Kim) Stambaugh, and Gary Stambaugh, all of Havana, Faye of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marilyn Conley of Shorewood, Phyllis Martin of Minooka, and Gregory Stambaugh of Joliet, thirteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mr. Stambaugh was a proud Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Topeka CL67 and USS Los Angeles CA135. He was a member of VFW Post #6408 and Havana’s American Legion, serving on the color guard. Mr. Stambaugh worked most of his life on the Illinois River, retiring in 1993. He also worked as a security guard with Intermet in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17 at 11 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Rev. James Sprinkle will officiate. Burial will be held at Browning Cemetery in Browning. VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138 will provide military detail. Memorial donations can be made in Guy’s name to Mason City Assembly of God.
