Walter Doyle Parsley

Walter Doyle Parsley, 89, of Havana, passed away at Havana Health Care at 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. He was born June 15, 1930, near Lewistown, IL, to Arthur and Flora (Stuart) Parsley. He married Ruth Stockham on July 6, 1949 in Havana. She survives. Mr. Parsley is survived by his wife, Ruth; two children: Bill (Kathy) Parsley and Cammy (Ed) Smith, all of Havana, as well as six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Roddis. Mr. Parsley was a member of Central Christian Church, in Havana, where he had served as Deacon and Board Member. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and wooden boat builder. He was a member of Carpenter’s Local #644, retiring in 1992. He worked for River City Construction and V. Jobst & Sons throughout his career. He had also worked as a commercial fisherman and farmer. He served on the Mason County Housing Board for many years. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Monday, July 8 from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Dr. Donald Graham will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church.
