Wilma A. Embree

Wilma A. Embree, 92, of Forest City, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10:05 p.m. at Hopedale Nursing Home. Wilma was born August 4, 1926 in Manito to Clarence E. and Bessie (Mahr) Fornoff. She married Charles “Bud” Embree on August 4, 1946. He passed on November 8, 1976. Wilma is survived by her children: Edward (Daisy) Embree of Bensenville, Stanley (Kathy) Embree of Manito, and Linda (Ron) Doty of Manito; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Michael) Rowe, Jessica (Bruce) Guy, Nathan (Jennifer) Doty and Natasha (Jon) Goodwin; four great grandchildren: Breckin Guy, Sean Guy, Mackenzie Doty and Faithie Doty; her brother, Robert E. Fornoff of Manito; and one niece Paula Charlton and nephew Mike Fornoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother Clarence J. Fornoff, and nephew Mark Fornoff. Wilma was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Forest City Sesquicentennial Committee, Mason County Retired Teachers Association, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Wilma began her teaching career in Forest City teaching primary grades. She taught 5th and 6th grade at Spring Lake Unit District 606 and finished her career as a Speech Therapist Aide at Forman Grade School. A funeral service for Wilma will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manito. Rev. James T. Batchlor will officiate. Burial will be held at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, as well as the evening before, Friday, October 5 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or The Forman Valley Library. Condolence may be left and memories shared at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is assisting the family with arrangements.
