Muriel Louise (Miller) VanCleave of 727 E. Washington St., Havana, passed quietly today at 9:38 a.m., September 8, 2018. She was born December 4, 1922 to John L. and Adeline (Long) Miller in Smithfield. She married 1st Class Machinist Mate, USN, Rolland L (Dutch) VanCleave on October 19, 1943 in Waukegan. Dutch proceeded her in death on July 23, 2006. Surviving are one daughter Patricia (Robert) Strube of Morton, one son Kenneth (Patricia) VanCleave of Lincoln, NE, six grandchildren, Bryan (Dee) Strube of Fischer, IN, Eric (Jen) Strube of Morton, Julie (Patrick) Missino, CT, Kevin (Annemarie) VanCleave of Waterford, CT, Jennifer Sapp of Hondo, TX, and Heather VanCleave of Lincoln, NE. She had fifteen great grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Strube, Hudson and Harper Strube, Rachel, Katie, Tricia Sizer, Hannah Missino, Victoria and Donovan Dutch VanCleave, Autumn and Laci Sapp, Dominic Ybarra, and two great-great grandchildren Savanah and Audrey Rose Sizer and three special grandchildren, Lisa, Melissa Dorsett and Joey Chamberlain. She is survived by one sister Rosalie (Gordon) Hornbuckle of Murietta, CA, two brothers, one sister, and two infant sisters preceded her in death, Lewis and Robert Miller and Ruth Baughman. Muriel was Homemaker, Girl and Cub Scout Leader, Member of Havana Women’s Club, Beethoven Club. V.F.W. Auxiliary, Fuddy Duddy Club and an active member in the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held in the First Baptist Church, Havana, at 10 a.m., Saturday September 15, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow shortly thereafter at the Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Havana.
