Albert Dean Smith, 94, of Havana passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 6:15 a.m. in his home. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Vermont, Illinois to Darel and Goldie (Sours) Smith. He married Deloris Budke in 1944 in Lewistown. She preceded him in death in 2012. Albert is survived by his son Larry (Sue) Smith, grandchildren Michelle (Steve) Emmons, Amy (Dave) Chambers, Laura Smith, and Brandon (Charlette) Smith, great-grandchildren Lindsey (Colby) Sarff, Andrew (Emily) Emmons, Maya, Ava, Ian, and Corbin Chambers, and Urban and Ashton Smith; great-great grandchildren Blakelynn and Case Sarff and Bentley Emmons, 3 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and four sisters. Albert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. He retired from Crescent Forge after 38 years and then worked for Pepsi-Cola. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, camping, and polka dancing. A memorial service was held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Pastor Kevin Wendorf officiated. Burial was held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Memorial contributions can be left in Albert’s name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Avalon Hospice, or friends of Sanganois Anderson Lake.
