Carroll E. Beatty

Carroll E. Beatty, 83, of Cuba, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on October 23, 1934, in Cuba to Hiram and Nellie (Shawgo) Beatty. He married Mary Ellen Marquis on August 12, 1960 in Rushville. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2018. Surviving Carroll are two sisters, Midra Markley and Mary Edith Beam; and his brother, Charlie Beatty. Carroll served proudly in the United States Army. He was also a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Canton for 29 years, retiring in 1993. He loved his antique John Deere tractors, spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories, camping, and traveling. Carroll never met a stranger and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 graveside at the Cuba Cemetery in Cuba. Visitation will precede the services from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Memorials may be given to Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.shawgomemorialhome.org. Shawgo Funeral Home is in charge of services.
