Virginia R. Durdle

Virginia R. Durdle, 89, of San Jose passed away at 11:20 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home. She was born on June 28, 1928 in rural Manito, the daughter of Daniel and Anna Hilst Singley. She married Delmar W. Durdle on June 19, 1946 in Manito and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2015. One brother, William Singley, and one sister, Dorothy Sunderland, also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons Bill (Penny) Durdle of San Jose and Ron (Janell) Durdle of Bloomington. She has four grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. One sister-in-law, Velma Glock of Belleville, also survives. She was a member of the Mason Co. Farm Bureau and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano, especially for her husband, and also played for sunday school and church for many years. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, near Manito. Rev. James T. Batchelor will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito following services at the Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church starting at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or San Jose Fire and Rescue Squad.
