Theodore Orin “Ted” Jackson, 81, of Havana, passed away at 9:55 a.m. at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He was born on May 9, 1936 in Pekin to Jesse O. and Eva M. (Standard) Jackson. Ted married Sally Ann Smith, his high school sweetheart, on September 30, 1956. She preceded him in death on February 29, 2016. During the years when he and Sally were raising their family, Ted worked first as a salesman/distributor for the 7-UP Company and then as a salesman for Rockford Life Insurance Company. After that, Ted worked as a self-employed general contractor before hiring on at the Havana Barge Terminal. He retired from Taber Grain/ADM in 2001. Ted was a member of the Havana Jaycees for several years and was active in scouting and little league with his son. He was also an avid supporter of his daughters throughout their involvement with the Havana High School Band. Ted is survived by three daughters: Cindy Jackson Soria of Indio, CA; Candy (Paul) Gann of Havana; and Cathy Jackson of Indio, CA; four grandchildren: Nicolas (Deanna) Bruns of Wildomar, CA; John Gann of San Diego, CA; Camryn Gann of Havana; and Andrea Gann of Tulsa, OK; as well as one great granddaughter Alexis Gaines of Havana. Also, surviving is one sister, Wanita Bumbalough of East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Scott D Jackson; also, by three brothers: Robert, Rolland “Mike”, and Jerry. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1 p.m., also at Hurley’s. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Pastor Ed Ingram will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Mason District Hospital in Havana.
