Paula Jean Ogden, 80, of Mason City, passed away at her home at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 4. She was born on December 3, 1937 in Lincoln, the daughter of Paul V. and Mildred (Lager) Martinie. She married Don J. Ogden on December 30, 1977 at the Presbyterian Church in Mason City. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2010. Paula Jean is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Wooldridge of Arcola and Julie Phelps of Mason City; four grandchildren, Derek Wooldridge, Dayton Leinweber, Dalee Leinweber, Collin Phelps; and seven great grandchildren, Ayla, Kendall, Rylan, Kyler, Weston, Shay, and Sage. She is also survived by four step children, three step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. Paula was preceded in death by her parents. Paula Jean was a member of the Mason City United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Fellowship Hour, the Clothes Closet at the church, and mentoring at the school for reading programs. She was a huge Cardinals fan, and a Golden State fan especially a fan of Steph Curry. She was a wonderful mom and best friend that anyone could ask for. Paula graduated from Browns Business College and then worked for Jack Means Medical for 11 years, sold insurance for Paul V. Martinie Insurance Agency, and owned Standard Oil with her husband for several years. Funeral Services for Paula Jean will be held Thursday, February 8 at the Presbyterian Church in Mason City at 12 p.m. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services also at the church from 10 a.m. to noon. Reverend Charlotte Poetschner will officiate. Burial will follow at Mason City Cemetery in Mason City. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mason City United Presbyterian Church or the ICGF Rocking Readers Program at Illini Central.
