Eldon J. Frye, 93, of Kankakee, formerly of Havana, died peacefully at Presence Heritage Village on Saturday, December 30. He was born April 29, 1924, near Havana to Elmer and Emma (Sandman) Frye. He married Elaine Kleier on February 22, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2006. Eldon is survived by his daughter Pam (Kerry) Adams of Bourbonnais; grandsons Ryan (Jessica) Adams of Nashville, TN, and Scott Adams of Chicago; great granddaughter, Athena Elaine Adams; his dear “other daughter” Marilyn Maropoulos and Bailey, and many dear extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Terry, and one brother, Delbert. Eldon was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. He served in various church positions including Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed woodworking, reading, and history. Eldon served on the Havana School District Board for many years. He was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Farm Bureau, Extension, Irrigated Growers, Drainage Commission, and Zoning Board. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
