Betty Joan Reynolds
Betty Joan Reynolds, 81, of Peoria, formerly of Havana, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, in Peoria, at 4:08 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017. She was born June 29, 1936 in Beardstown, IL to Charles H. and Catherine Margaret (Showalter) Turner. She married Edwin Reynolds on September 26, 1952 at the Havana Church of Christ. Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her husband, Edwin, of Peoria; three sons: Dennis (Vicky) Reynolds of Havana, Kent (Chris) Reynolds of Peoria and James (Marie) Reynolds of Havana; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Steven Turner of St. David, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: John Turner, Larry Turner and Charlie Turner and one daughter, Frances Reynolds Johnson. Betty and Edwin had also raised several foster children. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the Havana Church of Christ. She was the Valedictorian of the Havana High School Class of 1957. She worked as high school secretary and at Caterpillar Inc. She also graduated from beauty school and worked out of the beauty shop in her home for over twenty years. In her free time, she enjoyed painting and gardening. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Havana Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 with visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. Rev. Bill Boyce will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Havana Church of Christ.
