Eldon Bridges

Eldon R. Bridges, 75, of Havana, passed away at his home at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016. He was born October 24, 1940 in Havana, to George and Mary (Williams) Bridges. He married Sharon Peterson on January 26, 1963 in Petersburg, IL. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Eldon is survived by two daughters, Mindy Bridges of Rantoul, IL and Kim (Joe) Valenzuela of Bakersfield, CA, grandson, Joe Valenzuela and three great-grandchildren, Gracie, Cody and Chloe, all of Bakersfield, CA. Also surviving are two sisters, Vivian Towery and Rosemary Burget of Havana and brother, Davey Bridges of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, eight brothers and one sister.
Eldon worked as a fireman in Bakersfield, CA, retiring in 1979. He then moved back to Havana, where he worked as a security guard. He loved to fish and make lures. He also loved to mushroom hunt. There are still some hidden spots which will never be known. He also loved to make goodies for his family and friends, to which he had many.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial luncheon will be held at VFW Post #6408 in Havana on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 1 p.m.
