Wilfred O. Bitner Jr.

Wilfred O. Bitner Jr., 81, of Havana, passed away at his home at 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015. He was born April 28, 1934 in Forest City, IL to Wilfred O. and Barbara (Bennett) Bitner Sr. He married Nancy Martin on April 18, 1952 in Havana.
Mr. Bitner is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Havana, six children, Debra Treworgy of Union, WV, Shelia (Gary) Atwater of Havana, Pamela (John) Keyes of Pekin, Billie Bitner of Topeka, Steven (Donita) Bitner of Havana and Guy Bitner of Havana, as well as eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Elizabeth (Charles) Ragland of Manito and one brother, Leonard (Donna) Bitner of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters: Raymond, Gene, Ruth, Eleanor and Clark, son-in-law, Wayne Treworgy and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Bitner.
Mr. Bitner was member of the Havana Church of Christ. He was a former member of the Ridge Lake Fire Department. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1981 and had also farmed.
Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
