Sandra Ferree Mason
Sandra Ferree Mason, age 83, left us to go to her Heavenly Home on January 23, 2025. She will be greatly missed by many. She was born in Havana to Leonard Kirk and Ruth Kelley Ferree. She is survived by one sister, Rowena Allen, and two daughters: Monica Coker and Angela Mason, all of Havana. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Clyde and Kenny, one infant son, and two grandsons: Brandon Stephens and Kirk Schoonover. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Krisandra Holmes, Chase Kimbrell, Tyler Kimbrell, and Terra Stiltz, and eight great grandbabies: Ryleigh, Madi, Kyler, Josie, Kenzie, Graham, Jarrett, and Berkley. She received her cosmetology license from High-Fashion Beauty College and was a hairdresser for over 50 years. Her clients became very close friends. She loved and took much pride in keeping and decorating her home. She always made you feel welcome because Sandy loved company! Sandy’s faith was always important to her, and she was a life-long Pentecostal. Throughout her illness she relied on her faith, which brought her much comfort. During her life she was a cheerful person and was known for her laugh and her smile. Everyone knew Sandy’s laugh! She was witty and could brighten any room. She had several hobbies, which she engaged in as long as she could. Sandy toured many states on the back of a Harley motorcycle. She was a people-person and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with loved ones, including bowling and boating all summer with her friends. Sandy was also known for her generosity and compassion; she was always a giver and was always willing to help others. However, the highlight of Sandy’s life was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the delight of her life and brought her so much joy. Sandy’s wish was to donate her body to scientific research, as a final act in helping others. There will be no services, but a private memorial for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
