Spoon River Library Book Club meets

The new Spoon River Library Book Club will have their first meeting Tuesday, March 27 at 6 p.m. at the library at 201 South Third Street.

They will discuss the book “The Hate U Give,” by Angie Thomas, which is about racial inequality and prejudice. Synopsis: Starr, an African-American student, is searching for who she is. She is in a car when one of her friends is shot and killed during a stop by a police officer. Follow Starr as she struggles with events that are out of her control and figuring out what she can do to make a difference.

The Book Club will continue to meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month through August from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library at 201 South Third Street.
