Astoria High School will host a community blood drive from 8:45 am to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 1 at 402 N. Jefferson St., inside Gym. To donate, please contact Garry Bastien at (309) 329-2156 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 1014 to locate the drive. Donor Eligibility Criteria: Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Donors who last gave blood on or before 2/4/19 are eligible to give at this drive. About Blood Donation: Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. Wrestlers from all over the state will be in Havana to participate in the Jerry Strauman Open Wrestling Tournament. Wrestler weigh-ins are from 7-8:30 and wrestling will start at 9:30 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to come to the Havana Junior High Gymnasium to watch some great wrestling and participate in the 50/50 raffle and other raffles. The concession stand will feature Casey’s pizza, subs, and donuts. All proceeds will benefit Havana and Manito wrestling programs.

Adults and their tots will have fun exploring, discovering, and learning on the first Thursday of the month in the Museum’s Discovery Center. Spend quality time with your tot, while each of you makes new friends. A different topic and craft will be featured each month. Registration is not required and admission is free. Participants will enjoy light refreshments. The program begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. with the program portion lasting approximately thirty minutes followed by crafts, snacks, and time to explore the Museum.
On April 4th, participants will learn about the importance of trees and their role in nature. Tots and their caretakers may enjoy helping to plant several native Illinois trees on the Musuem’s grounds and a “tree” craft to take home.
