An evening of painting, fun and food with Ashley Trueblood of Picasso on the Prairie and dinner at Grandpa’s.
Dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. from the menu. Painting from 6 to 8 p.m. $50 covers all supplies. Tickets available at the door.
Anniversary Open House at Havana Library
The Havana Public Library District will host an anniversary open house on Saturday, October 21 from noon until 2 p.m at the Main Library, 201 West Adams Street. We will be serving cake to celebrate the 115th anniversary of our 1902 grand opening. Visitors will have an opportunity to speak with board members, see the recent improvements to our historic library, and learn about our collections and resources. We look forward to seeing you at the library!
Ladies Aid Soup Supper
The Ladies Aid of Havana’s St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold their annual Soup Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25.
The menu will include vegetable soup, chili, ham sandwiches, hot dogs, salads and pie.
A free will donation will be taken.
St. Paul’s is located at 121 N. Pearl. Please use the basement entrance on Market Street.
Pregnancy Center to hold Fall Fundraiser Banquet
Spoon River Pregnancy Center invites the public to their 2017 Fall Fundraising Banquet on Thursday, October 25, at the Wesley Ministry Center, 60 North Avenue A, Canton. Doors open at 6 p.m. The dinner and program will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The dinner is free of charge. Carol Tobias, President of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) in Washington, D.C., will be the guest speaker.
Learn to Hunt Workshop
The Hunter Recruitment Program provides FREE education and training workshops to teach ADULT participants how to hunt deer, turkey, squirrels, pheasants, ducks, geese and other game. RSVP required.
Workshops include presentations and hands-on activities on the following topics:
- Hunting history and ethics
- Game animal behavior and ecology
- Safely using firearms and archery equipment
- Purchasing and using proper clothing and gear
- Hunting laws and licenses
- Butchering, storing and cooking harvested game
- Scouting and accessing land
- Target shooting exercise
- Live hunt with an experienced hunting mentor
Community Friendship Meal
The Havana First United Methodist Church will be have their monthly Community Friendship Meal on Saturday, October 28th from 11:30 a.m., to 12:30 p.m. There is no cost or obligation to members of our community – we just want to provide an opportunity for persons to get together for good fellowship and good food! There are no age, income, or any other restrictions whatsoever. This meal is open to persons of all ages – just come as you are and enjoy a free meal with other members of our community! This month our menu is chili, sandwiches, chips and cake. Due to the holidays, there will be no Friendship Meal in November and December. Dinner and Bake Sale Prom Fund Raiser
The Havana Post Prom Committee will be hosting a chicken noodle dinner and bake sale on October 29, 2017, from 11 to 2 at the banquet room at Grandpa’s Restaurant, 117 W. Main, Havana. The dinner will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, and tea or coffee. Baked goods will also be available to purchase. Meals may be dine in or carry out, and delivery will be available upon request. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at Grandpa’s Restaurant (309)-543-1122, Heaven Scent (309)-543-3625, or from any Post Prom committee member. Tickets will also be available the day of the dinner. Please call Amy Clark (309)-303-8788 with any questions. All proceeds will benefit the 2018 Post Prom.
Halloween Party in Bryant
Bryant will be hosting a community-wide Halloween Party on Sunday, October 29 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Village Hall. There will be a weiner roast with other food and treats, and a Halloween Costume Contest with judging at 5:45 p.m. After the judging at 6 p.m. there will be a Haunted Hay Rack Ride. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras for a Halloween Photo Booth.
The Lewistown American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a wiener roast and a pre-Halloween party, on Monday October 30th, at 505 East Eisenhower Street, parking lot, in Lewistown, from 5 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs, marshmallows, chips and hot chocolate will be provided. Door prizes will be awarded to the best dressed child.
