Frances M. Harms

Frances M. Harms, 85, of Forest City, passed away at her home at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born March 16, 1938, in Mason County to James David and Clytie (Wrestler) Caulkins. She married James E. Harms and he preceded her in death in 2011. Mrs. Harms is survived by three children: Chris Harms of Forest City, Scott Harms, of Chicago, Linda (Steve) Miller, of Manito; four grandchildren: Matt (Breanne) Miller, Josh Miller, Stephanie Miller, Ryan Harms; as well as two great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Kate Miller. Also surviving are one brother: Danny Caulkins, of Indiana and Carolyn (Gary) Smith, of Pekin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Steven D. Harms and Jeffrey Harms, and siblings: Lloyd Caulkins, David Caulkins, Clytie O’Shea, and Ruby Bohm. Mrs. Harms was a member of the Forest City Community Church, where she had been active in the choir. She was a member of the Forman School Board and Forman Ambulance. She loved singing, bowling, gardening and cooking. She was considered the family historian, always putting her family first. Most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, on Thursday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the services. Chaplain Carolyn Roper will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Forest City. Memorial contributions may be made to Forman Ambulance. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, is in charge of arrangements.
