Ruth Lorraine Ford

In loving memory of Ruth Ford, a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother and friend, whose life was a testament to her strength, kindness, and achievement. As a dedicated Manager with Illinois Bell/AT&T, she excelled in her career which began as a telephone operator and then progressed into Management, retiring in 1991. Ruth Lorraine Ford, 95, of 6404 21st Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida passed away while at Hospice Care on October 13, 2023. For the past 2 years, Ruth resided at Freedom Village, a retirement community in Bradenton which she thoroughly enjoyed with her new friends. Born January 1, 1928, in Seaton to Dale and Isabel Haist, Ruth married Harold “Whitey” Ford on March 15, 1947, in Canton. Whitey passed away in April of 1997. In addition, she was pre-deceased by her son, Jerry Ford. Ruth’s survivors include her daughter, Cathy Heckerman of Palmetto; a sister, Mary Keefauver of Canton and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Haist of Bartonville; three grandchildren, six great-grand- children and four great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews reside in Illinois. Two in particular, Lynn and Pam were always there for her. Ruth and Whitey loved to golf with their friends at the Canton Country Club. Vacationing in Florida became a summer tradition and upon retirement, they spent 6 months a year in Florida with family. Ruth was very much admired and loved by her daughter, grandchildren (Todd, Gina and Hilary) and family. Her strong faith in the Lord gave her comfort throughout her life.
