Wanda Mae Krause

Wanda Mae Krause, 89, of Manito, formerly of Easton, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 5:25 p.m. at Carle Health Pekin Hospital in Pekin. She was born on March 13, 1934 in Springfield to Theodore and Mabel (Hahn) Kramer. She married Jon A. Krause on November 22, 1953 in Havana and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1986. Wanda is survived by her children Mike (Beth) Krause of Manito, Steve (Jan) Krause of Mason City, Scott (Teresa) Krause of Mackinaw, and Jill (Scott) Gamboe of Edwards, grandchildren Mandy (Matt) Distel, Marcy Krause, Mika Krause, Jack (Trayc) Krause, Jeff (Shelby) Krause, Nicholas (Hannah) Norman-Krause, Matt (Kelsey) Krause, Kaleigh (Brendan) Barlow, and Erica Gamboe, great-grandchildren Blake Distel, Sydney Distel, Chloe Krause, and Liam Krause and sister Norma Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law Carol Umbach. Wanda was a most loving, caring homemaker, farm wife, and matriarch of her family, who never tired or retired from these roles. She was the “glue” for her family and friends, nurturing many relationships. Above all, fairness and selflessness defined her. Wanda immensely loved her life on the family farm with husband Jon, son Steve, and grandson Jeff. Wanda and Jon traveled across America in their Winnie motorhome, making priceless memories. She enjoyed time with family and friends during her visits to northern Minnesota and winters in southwest Florida. Wanda loved playing all kinds of games, crafting, puzzling, watching Illini basketball, and following St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She enjoyed her morning coffee time with her family and friends and she loved following the activities of her family, especially their many athletic endeavors. Wanda was a woman of strong faith, a confirmant and member .of St Paul’s Lutheran Church (Havana), later attending New Castle Bible Church (Mackinaw) while being involved with winter services in Leisure Time Park (Bonita Springs, FL). A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m., also at Hurley Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Nicholas Norman-Krause will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. A luncheon will be held afterwards at the Easton Fire House. Memorial donations may be made in Wanda’s name to the Easton Fire Department or Greater Peoria Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
