Barbara Ann Leesman

Barbara Ann Leesman, 91, of Mason City, passed away at the Mason City Area Nursing Home on Thursday, September 14, 2023. She was born on December 10, 1931, in rural Forest City to John Floyd and Lillie (Langston) Whitaker. She married Carl R. Leesman on March 24, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1999. Barb is survived by two daughters: Jill (David) Scarpino of Hampshire and Joan (Bill) Harris of Mason City; five grandsons: Jason Scarpino, Vincent (Leslie) Scarpino, Kyle (Tonya) Harris, Ryan (Marnie) Harris, and Matthew (Christina) Harris; 10 great grandchildren; sister Mary Clinebell of Pekin and brother Dwight (Jacque) Whitaker of Forest City. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, infant grandson David Vincent Scarpino, three brothers and three sisters. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, especially visits from the great grandkids. She hated to cook but loved to bake, a trait she passed on to her daughters. She enjoyed weekly chocolate milkshakes from the Dari-Belle during the summer and waited to pass until after they closed for the season. A funeral will be held on Monday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City with a burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mason City Methodist Church or to the Mason City Area Nursing Home’s Activity department. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is assisting the family.
