Stanley James Henderson

Stanley James Henderson, 85, formerly of Canton and Ft. Myers Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born in Lewistown on March 26, 1938 to Beulah and Leonard Henderson, who preceded him in death, along with sisters Bonnie Coons and MaryJo Rosecan. Stan is survived by his sister Patricia (James) Watts and his daughters Cherie Dodge of Longmont, CO, Julie (Shelton) Lee of Orlando, FL and Angela (Wayne) Sisson of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his companion of many years, Rosie Jorgensen of Peoria, 5 grandchildren Jordan (Lee) Wohlleber, Jarrod Lee, Ashley (Franzoni) Watts, Kelley Dodge, Nathan Dodge and 4 great-grandchildren. A 1956 graduate of Canton High School, Stan lettered in wrestling, attended Boys State and enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, go-carts and boats. He won the outstanding novice trophy for the Golden Gloves Boxing Club. Stan served a combined 8 yrs in the Naval and Army Reserves and retired with 35 yrs. of service from CILCO (Ameren) as a Sr. Systems Programmer. He was a member of the Skirt & Shirt Square Dancers and enjoyed boating and waterskiing with family and friends on the Illinois River and Lake of the Ozarks. Stan was an accomplished billiards player winning numerous tournaments over the years. He enjoyed living his retirement years in sunny Florida where he was a member of the Ft. Myers Moose Lodge #1899 and the American Legion Post 0274. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Canton Harvester Inn from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, October 21. There will be a private burial at White Chapel Memory Gardens. He will be dearly missed.
