Theodore “Ted” Sisson,
Theodore “Ted” Sisson, 85, of Kilbourne passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 13, 1938, the youngest of 13 children born to Harvey Sr. and Nina Mae (Roloff) Sisson. He married the love of his life, Shelby Thomas, on September 27, 1958 and they spent 65 wonderful years together. Ted served 4 years in the United States Air Force, thereafter settling in Kilbourne where he lived the remainder of his life doing what he loved – farming. Ted was a member of the Kilbourne Community Church and was very passionate about his faith as well as his church family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Ted served on the Kilbourne Township Board for many years. Ted’s most prized possession was his love and service for the Lord. He loved to serve God by sharing his faith with others and loved good fellowship and music. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend and would help anyone, no matter the need. He was full of kindness and compassion, and he never failed to greet you with a big smile and a “God Bless You.” Ted was a pillar of his community and will be greatly missed by all. Ted is survived by his wife, Shelby, his children; Dean (Lori) Sisson and Jeanine (Darrell) Walters, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his dog, Job. He is also survived by one brother, Marcus Sisson. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 8 sisters. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Havana 1st Baptist Church, with Pastor Aaron Blakeley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Kilbourne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted’s name to the Kilbourne Community Church of the Alzheimer’s Association.
