Larry L. Hallmark

Larry L. Hallmark, 81, of Havana, passed away on April 8, 2023, at his home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born January 16, 1942, in Havana to John L. and Dolly M. (Chaney) Hallmark. He married (Thelma) Lorraine Hall on August 21, 1965, at the United Methodist Church in Havana. Mr. Hallmark is survived by his wife of 57 years; one son Kevin (Annie) Hallmark of Michigan and one daughter Lisa Hallmark of Havana; four grandchildren, Haydee, Jesse, Tessa, and Lucie of Michigan; two sisters, Sandra McCabe of Cuba and Harriet Palmer of Vinita, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Christina M. Hallmark; his parents; seven brothers John, James, Robert, Frank, Donald, Richard, and Michael Hallmark; ten sisters Ora Kruse, Frances Williams, Ethel Payne, an infant sister Shirley, Carolyn Edwards, Linda Morris, Ruth Belville, Sharon Clark, Kathy Littrell, and Mary Tribbett. Mr. Hallmark worked for more than 30 years for Continental Grain Company in Havana and then for Cargill, Inc., which bought out Continental Grain, until his retirement in 2008. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, traveling to see his grandchildren, gardening, and landscaping. His tomatoes were prized by many. Even before he was afflicted by Alzheimer’s, it was his wish to donate his body for scientific research. A Memorial Service will be held on April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 18178 ECR 1700 N, Havana, IL. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m.
