Doris J. Gilmore

Doris J. Gilmore, 90, of Kilbourne passed away at 8:08 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16 at her home. She was born on January 22, 1932 in Havana to William Archie and Pansy (Turner) VanDyke. She married Eugene Steve Gilmore in Kilbourne on February 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1990. Doris is survived by her children: Janice Stum, Geraldine Ellsworth, Diane Decker, Keith Gilmore, Kenneth Gilmore, Alice Marie Gilmore, John Gilmore, Gina Watkins, and Darrin Gilmore, 38 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda, sons, Wayne and Danny, and 11 brothers and sisters. Doris was a member of Kilbourne Baptist Church, where she loved to volunteer. She worked as an LPN at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg for many years. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Kilbourne Baptist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Abraham Mogerman officiated. Burial followed the service at Kilbourne Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Doris’s name to Mason County Pets Without Parents.
