Joan Marie Moore
Joan Marie Moore, 73, of Springfield, loving wife, mother, grandmother & friend passed away on August 17 at her home. Joan was born to Nelson and Margaret (Everley) Gale on March 25, 1949, in Canton and spent most of her childhood years in Havana. She graduated from Havana High School, eventually emigrating to Springfield, where she promptly went to work, while raising her son Jeff. Working as an employment counselor for Snelling & Snelling Employment Agency she quickly rose to the position of Manager. She then started an independent agency, Employment Specialists, where she, with a fine staff of counselors, found and helped secure employment for many job seekers. After succeeding in this challenging field she went back to school where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. With diploma in hand, she secured a position at St. John’s Hospital where she specialized in oncology. After working the floor for several years she moved to the home hospice department. It was during this time when her loving, caring attitude was felt and appreciated by all of her patient’s families in their own time of sorrow. From this position of giving solace she acquired a position at Heritage Manor where she helped patients and fellow medical staff members learn how to positively impact each other’s lives. People of all ages looked to her for advice, which she humbly and gladly shared. Not stopping there, she retired from the medical field and operated a tanning salon for three years. Through all these years of being a hardworking contributor to the Springfield Community she focused on raising her son Jeff to be a happy, loving, engaging man of many talents and interests, who with his wife, Jenny, Have two fine boys of their own, Matt & Ryan. Joan’s craft skills are well known & enjoyed by friends and family alike, as she was always known to have “busy hands”. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret; and father, Nelson Gale; and brother John. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim; son, Jeff (wife, Jenny) Weber; grandsons, Matt & Ryan; cousin, Moneta Bedwell; and nephew Steve Gale. Cremation was accorded by Park Funeral Homes in Rochester and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
I grew up with Joanie and her brother John. John and I were best buddies for sure. My prayers and blessings are with the family during this time of need.
