Hazel L. Jordan

Hazel L. Jordan, 90, of Havana passed away on Thursday, May 26 at 7:12 a.m. at Sunset Manor in Canton. She was born on May 3, 1932 in Cass County to Jess H. and Georgia E. (Medlin) Clement. She married Charles “Chasty” Jordan Sr. in Beardstown, on July 19, 1952. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1999. Hazel is survived by her children, Debbie (Paul) Jockisch of Havana, Charles W. (Denise) Jordan, Jr. of Rushville, and Richard D. (Julie) Jordan of Havana, twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Evelyn Hish of Virginia, Illinois and Mildred Correll of Jacksonville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: James Clement, Jess Clement Jr., and Robert Clement. Hazel was of the Baptist faith. She was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, Ladies Bible study teacher at the Bethel Baptist Church, and a member of the Bethel Shut-in Ministry. She worked for Franklin Life, Mason District Hospital, and Hornsby Family Center, and then later for Famous Barr and Macy’s. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. at New Lebanon Baptist Church outside of Kilbourne, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rev. Don Neisler will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Bethel Baptist Church in rural Chandlerville. Memorial donations may be made in Hazel’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the donor’s choice of organization. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
