Ralph “Butch” Henry Swise

Ralph “Butch” Henry Swise, 78, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, January 29 at Majors Hospital in Shelbyville, IN. He was born on June 15, 1943 in Galesburg to the late parents of E. Leonard and Naomi H. (Benson) Swise. Survivors include; wife, Susan K. Swise of Canton; daughters, Sue Ellen (Bob) Vawter of Indianapolis, IN and Lynnette (Jeff) Bell of Carrollton, IN; son, Brian L. (Leeann Rossell) Swise of Galesburg; grandchildren, Courtney (Tres York) Vawter, Brett Swise, Sarah (Jake) Reffett, Samantha (Petar) Hood, Elijah Bell, Samuel Vawter, Jonah Bell and Addison Bell.; great grandsons, Henry Swise, Jedd, and Eli Reffett; great granddaughter, Charlie Reffett. He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Charles L. Swise; sister, Charlotte J. Roberts. Butch retired from International Harvester/Navistar, Indianapolis Plant in 1992. He was a member and trustee of the Fiatt Independent Christian Church, Fiatt, Board Member of the Fiatt Cemetery, Fiatt, and Volunteered over 20 years on the Cuba Fire Dept, Cuba. Butch loved his family, fishing, farming, traveling and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all, especially his “old buddies” at the Fairview Cafe. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Fountaintown Fire & Rescue and Sugar Creek Fire & Rescue for the care they gave on the ambulance runs. Services were on Tuesday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fiatt Independent Christian Church, 13960 E. IL 9 Hwy, Fiatt, IL 61433 with Pastor Ben Williamson Officiating. Visitation was on Monday, February 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00pm at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, 1601 E. Chestnut Street, Canton, IL 61520. Burial will be in the Fiatt Cemetery, Fiatt.
