Elizabeth Doretta Mason

Elizabeth Doretta Mason, 86, of rural Cuba passed away at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday October 26 at her home. She was born July 20, 1935 at rural Mason County the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Bennett) Skaggs. She married Lyle B. Mason on September 23, 1955 at Manito. He died May 16, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Bob Dams, a great grandson Zachory Taylor, two brothers, Charles and Jim Skaggs, and one sister, Rosa Beal. Surviving are six children, George (Christie) Mason of Cuba, David Mason of Bushnell, Jeanne (Ned Graham) Dams of Cuba, Debbie (Chris) Wright of Abingdon, Phillip (Patty) Mason of Bushnell, and Paul (Niki) Mason of Canton, two sisters, Lois Meyer of Manito, and Betty Lippert of Havana, one brother, Bob (Debbie) Skaggs of Manito, a sister-in-law, Pat Benns of Pinckneyville, brothers-in-law, Charlie (Vickie) Mason of Lewistown, and Larry (Rosemary) Mason of Summum, 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doretta was a homemaker and lifelong farmer. She was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. Doretta was a very welcoming person a dedicated mother and amazing grandmother. She enjoyed flowers, feeding the birds, fishing, mushrooming, family gatherings, and sporting events. She loved to mow her yard. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Grant Keime Clinic. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29 at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Burial will be at Cuba Cemetery in Cuba. Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass-Putman Rescue Squad.
