DeWayne Eugene Gilmore

DeWayne Eugene Gilmore, 71, of Kilbourne passed away on Tuesday, April 20 at 9:22 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born on April 22, 1949 in Petersburg to Eugene S. Gilmore and Doris (VanDyke) Holmes. He married Kay Brooks in Kilbourne on October 11, 2016. DeWayne is survived by his wife, Kay Gilmore of Kilbourne, son, Chad Gilmore of Forest City, daughter, Deanna Gilmore of North Carolina, mother, Doris Holmes of Kilbourne, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Keith Gilmore, Kenneth Gilmore, John Gilmore, Darrin Gilmore, Janice Stum, Geri Ellsworth, Diane Decker, and Gina Watkins and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, son, Richard Gilmore, sister, Linda Gilmore, and brother, Danny Gilmore. DeWayne served as a paratrooper in the Army during Vietnam. He attended Kilbourne Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked as a painter while living in Michigan. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Kilbourne Cemetery.
