Janice Marie Hardesty, 82, of Havana, passed away at her home at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, January 18. She was born April 1, 1938, near White City to Omar and Irene (Mibb) Dale. She married Thomas W. Hardesty, in Havana, on December 30, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1998. Mrs. Hardesty is survived by two children: Thomas (Diana) Hardesty, of Havana, Angela (Danny) Smith, of Havana; five grandchildren: Matthew, Jennifer, Heather, Adan and Hunter; as well as six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter: Anna Marie Heyen and five siblings: Elmer Dale, Ivan Dale, Clyde Dale, Bob Dale and Mildred Hibbs. Mrs. Hardesty was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Havana, where she had been a member of the church choir. She was an avid camper and boater. She worked for the Havana School District for forty years as a custodian and bus driver. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1st Baptist Church, in Havana, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 21, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial followed the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. A luncheon was held immediately following the service at the church. In compliance with current guidelines, masks were worn in the church and social distancing was observed. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
