Susie B. Paulsen, 73, of Peoria, formerly of Manito, passed away at OSF-St. Francis Medical Center at 5:36 p.m., on Saturday, December 5. She was born April 28, 1947, in Topeka, to John and Eurah (Ground) Hainline. Mrs. Paulsen is survived by two sisters: Marie Buchanan of Peoria, and Mary Beebe, of Manito, as well as one brother: Harry (Paula) Hainline of Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tommy. Mrs. Paulsen was an Accredited Record Tech. and Certified Coding Specialist. She worked as Medical Records Director at Proctor Hospital, in Peoria, for five years, Kewanee Hospital for eight years. She was a consultant for Care Communications in Davenport for 30 years and in Savannah, Georgia, for two years. She also taught Coding at Robert Morris in Springfield. She enjoyed reading, coloring and cooking. She especially liked traveling or going out to breakfast or lunch with The Golden Girls. Funeral services will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 9, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Rev. Frank Brozenac will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Forest City. In accordance with current guidelines, masks will be required for all in attendance and numbers of attendees will be limited. Memorial contributions may be made to Mason County Pets Without Parents.
