Virginia Catherine Severns

Virginia Catherine Severns, age 99 passed away on June 30 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home. She was born on January 25, 1921 to John and Beulah VanHorn. She married Joe Severns in 1951. Virginia is survived by one sister, Thelma Tomlin and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Virginia attended Peoria Institute of Business in Peoria immediately after high school in 1939. She later worked at Travelers Insurance Company in Peoria. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband. Virginia was known for her rose garden. A graveside service will be held at Mason City Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2 with Reverend Charlotte Poetschner officiating. Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, 122 W. High St., Mason City, Il 62664. Hurley Funeral Home of Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
