Leon “Bud” Cluts

Leon “Bud” Cluts, 86, passed away on Monday, June 8 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born on August 19, 1933 in Canton to Leonard and Mary (White) Cluts. They preceded him in death. He married Nancy Sheets on October 16, 1964 in Canton. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Robyn (Jim) Dutton of Vermont, Mike Cluts of Atlanta, Mark (Tanya) Cluts of Minnesota, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one brother Glen Cluts of Tampa, FL. Also preceding him in death are one son Kevin Leon Cluts, sisters, Donna Markley, Phyllis Sullivan, one brother Bill Cluts and one infant brother. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria for 40 years retiring in July 1991 as a quality assurance inspector. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Canton where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Fairview American Legion Post # 644 and the Linn Lanes Retiree League. He also delivered Meals on Wheels. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He loved to read non-fiction books, writings about our Presidents and enjoyed history. Bud also enjoyed racket ball, bowling, boating, crossword puzzles and walking with his wife. Most of all Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and traveled with the Greater Peoria Honor Flight on September 10, 2019. He was blessed to have attended two flights, one as a guardian and one as a veteran. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Fairview Cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton.
